My wife and I are retired and we spend every winter in Mexico.

This summer I purchased a ‘46 Ford coupe from an individual in Bahia de Kino, Sonora, MX. No title or VIN number was available when I purchased the vehicle. I have a fair amount of paperwork, but I have no title or VIN number. To my knowledge this car has never been stolen, nor is there anything “fishy” going on here. This vehicle was the previous owner’s family car. He had it for several years, and he drove it almost every day.

I destroyed what I assume was the VIN number tag when I tried to use paint remover to get the information from it. The tag was not stamped. I know of no VIN number anywhere else on the vehicle. I have checked the vehicle everywhere that has been recommended to me.

I am just about desperate. If I had a title I could get a new VIN number tag. If I had a VIN# tag, I could get a title. It’s a vicious circle!

I can currently buy a blank VIN number tag on the Web. If I had a legitimate VIN number, I could have it engraved or stamped on the tag. As I stated above, I can then get a title.

Can you please help me or can you please refer me to someone that can help?

    Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,
    Dave Green

What title would you use for a 1959 Mercedes
300SL Roadster? How would you know that the
Vin# is not being used on another 300SL in 1959? Several cars in 1959 were destroyed by wrecks, fire or parted out. If your rebuilding a car and obtain a Vin# that someone else has, it would be serious problem. How could you search for a 1959 300SL that was destroyed or
wrecked. No one would care if the car doesn’t
    exsist with that Vin#.
What state would the title come from and how do search Vin#’s? What’s the cost of title?
    Thank you

I have a 1934 Hudson 2 Door Coupe Hot Rod. It is on a custom chassis and the original is long gone. When I bought the body it was in pretty rough shape and all that was left was the shell. I have been working on this for about 7 years and now I need to figure out how to get it registered. I don’t have a title or vin. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

I have frames rails that I found on my dad’s farm. We think it was a 32 ford roadster that grandfather had at one time. The only numbers we can see are 18199, not sure about that… Can we get a title for a 32 ford roadster or what do we need to do if we decide to build a car off this frame???

    Thank you,
    Renessa

hi. i have a 62 corvette fuelie that has been around my family for i don’t know how long. i took its remains from my godfathers gas station upon his death 20 some years ago and have slowly (very slowly) put the car back together. now it’s almost at the point where it can be drivin, but i have absolutely no paperwork on the car, and when i got it, it had no front end and no steering column and no vin #. can you do anything for me and my situation? i’ve tried to find a deceased car to use it’s info, but i don’t know what direction to go. thanks for your input.
